Health & Safety Policy – Statement of Intent
It is the intention of Westpoint Construction that the Company’s work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions and all reasonably practicable measures taken to avoid risk to its employees or others that may be affected. The Directors of the Company understand and accept their responsibilities for Health & Safety. They have agreed that it is the Company’s policy not only to meet the basis requirements of legislation, but to attain higher standards by adopting a strategy for continuous improvement. Furthermore the Directors undertake to give the management of Health & Safety risk equal status to the attainment of commercial goals.
Line management and supervisory staff have the responsibility for implementing this policy throughout the Company and must ensure that Health & Safety considerations are always given priority in planning day to day supervision of work.
All employees and sub-contractors are expected to co-operate with the Company in carrying out this policy and must ensure that their own work, so far as reasonably practicable, is carried out without risk to themselves or others.
The overall responsibility for Health & Safety for the Company rests with the Managing Director. The Projects Director is responsible for the effective implementation of this policy on a day to day basis.
The operation of this policy will be monitored by the management and staff of the Company. To assist them in this respect, the Company has appointed Health & Safety advisors to visit sites and workplaces and to give notice on the requirements of relevant statutory provisions and safety matters generally.
The Health & Safety advisor is NHBC Health & Safety Services Ltd.
This statement will be displayed prominently at all sites and workplaces. The organisation and arrangements for implementing the policy will also be available at each site and workplace for reference by any employee as required.
The Health & Safety policy (including the Statement of Intent, Organisation and Arrangements sections) will be reviewed and amended on a regular basis as required and at least annually.
The statement detailed above forms only part of the Company’s Health & Safety documentation procedural requirements and note that the entire Health & Safety Handbook can be viewed at our Head Office. Please contact Graham Dickson – Projects Director at the Head Office.
